BRAND AND PARTS REFERENCE

IM Motors.
Newer vehicles, careful parts records.

Why clear naming and original-equipment data matter when sourcing parts for IM Motors vehicles.

A RECENT INTELLIGENT-EV BRAND

Know the name before you search the part.

IM Motors says it was founded on December 25, 2020 through a collaboration involving SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech. The company presents its focus as intelligent electric mobility. For parts buyers, the practical issue is identity: a newer vehicle programme can be described by an English brand name, a Chinese name, a model code, an overseas sales name or an abbreviated listing title. Those descriptions are useful clues, but none is a substitute for a full OE reference.

Before sourcing, record the vehicle’s exact badge, country of sale, production information and the original part label. This reduces the risk that an inquiry mixes a domestic-market description with an export-market vehicle or a visually similar component.

THE REQUEST CHECKLIST

Four details worth collecting at the vehicle.

01

Vehicle name as photographed

Send a clear image of the badge, registration or vehicle screen showing model information, rather than relying on spoken model names.

02

Country and build period

Confirm country of sale and production month/year where available. These details help separate market and production variations.

03

Original component evidence

Show the complete part, its label, connector faces, mounting points and side or position on the vehicle.

04

OE reference

Search and review using the full original-equipment number, including letters, hyphens and suffixes exactly as marked.

WHY VISUAL MATCHES FAIL

Similar housings can hide different electronics.

Modern EV components can look alike while carrying different connectors, firmware requirements, mounting revisions or market-specific specifications. This is especially relevant to electronic modules, sensors, cameras, lamps, displays and charging-related equipment. An image may help identify what a part is; it is not adequate proof of what vehicle it fits.

A better review starts with the OE number and supporting vehicle data. If no label is available, send high-quality photos and ask a qualified workshop to verify the original installation context before committing to a replacement.
